BACKGROUND

 The Trend-Setting Institute

The nation has a commitment to develop an equitable healthcare system to ensure 'Health for All' and sustainable quality of life for the people of Bangladesh. To translate this commitment into reality, we need caring, skilled, confident, devoted, and high-quality medical professionals. To fulfill this purpose, Ibrahim Medical College (IMC) was established in 2002 at 1/1, Ibrahim Sarani, Segunbagicha, by Bangladesh Diabetic Samity (BADAS) in honor of the late National Professor Dr. Mohammad Ibrahim—a legendary physician, teacher, and social reformer.
BADAS founded IMC with a vision to develop it as a 'trendsetter' medical institution in terms of high medical education and research standards.  IMC has an experienced faculty and a well-equipped teaching hospital. BIRDEM General Hospital, a 750-bed multi-disciplinary complex at Shahbagh and Segunbagicha, serves as its teaching hospital. Recognized nationally and internationally as a center of excellence, BIRDEM is also a WHO Collaborating Center for diabetes and endocrine disorders.
